Sculpture on the Peninsula

Discard was selected to be a part of Sculpture on the Peninsula 2013. At a variable height of approximately 800mm (approx. width 450mm, depth 550mm), it has been hand-sewn and constructed from a range of up cycled socks, stockings and pyjamas.

Positioned on the floor of the slaughterhouse at Laudon Farm, it is a mixed media work that explores ideas about repetition, process, experience and transformation. It is made from a combination of found materials that have been woven, twisted, and sewn together, referencing the body in both an absent and present state. Displayed as an item abandonded, it also speaks of guilty obsessions, sexual secrets, hoarding, and loss.
